Wednesday 1st June 2022
Hello everyone,
Well it’s finally here…in less than 24 hours, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations will officially begin! A four day bank holiday weekend full of fun, sun (hopefully), and celebration in honour of her majesty’s 70 year reign.
In honour of the Jubilee, I decided to make my very own mini appliqué Union Jack. The fabrics I used for this project were from the Robin Pickens ‘Thatched’ collection by Moda Fabrics, and the colours were ‘Royal Blue’ (I would’ve been a fool not to use this colour for this project), ‘Scarlet’, and ‘Cream’. I even added two corner triangles so I could hang it up on the wall.
Some of you may be attending a street party, garden party, meeting up with friends and family, or just having a quiet weekend away from work. What will I be doing? Well, I’m going to spend my time making some tasty treats with my Mum; I’m thinking a lemon drizzle tray bake with strawberry sorbet, and a side of fresh strawberries. On the subject of sorbet, we recently treated ourselves to an ice cream maker which gives us the ability to make our own ice cream, sorbet, and smoothies. Only the other week, we made pineapple sorbet and I can only describe it as being “frozen heaven” – it was so good!
As it’s a bank holiday weekend, any orders placed on our website after today will not be dispatched until Monday 6th June 2022.
For all newsletter subscribers, you’ll be happy to know that the Summer 2022 newsletter has been sent out today, so please check your inboxes. If you would like to sign up to our seasonal newsletter, go to our Homepage and scroll down until you see the ‘Newsletter’ section.
Now I know it’s a ‘little’ bit early to be talking about Christmas, but as it will soon be 6 months until December 25th, this is the time of year where many crafters begin their festive projects. Take me for example, I’ve been working on a Nutcracker Quilt since February, and I’m already planning some mini projects to do with my Mum. Anyway, where was I? Later on this month, we will be stocking one of Lewis & Irene’s new Christmas collections for 2022, Gingerbread Season. This range will be full of gingerbread cuteness that will warm your heart, and will be great for a number of sewing projects, e.g. kitchen aprons and stockings come to mind.
Finally, will be adding a page to our website later this month with full details about the 1-1 sewing lessons.
Thank you all so much for reading this month’s blog. I will be back in July with more news and updates on all the latest products and fabrics arriving at Sew-Drops, plus we’ll be celebrating our 3rd birthday, as well as Christmas in July!
Best wishes,
Rebecca x
