Thursday 1st April 2021
Hello Everyone,
I hope you’re all having a lovely Easter bank holiday weekend! The weather’s been bright and sunny whilst I’ve been typing up this blog (that was 2 days ago), and fingers crossed it’ll still be sunny for us all over the weekend too – watch it be pouring down on Easter Sunday, typical British weather hey ?
Anyway, I’ve got another monthly blog for you all, full of new products, a mini offer you might like to know about, plus I’ll be giving you all a quick update with regards to our future fabric collections and deliveries – I think you all deserve to know what’s been going on.
So, what’s ‘NEW’ at Sew-Drops for April 2021? Would you believe me if I said fairies? I’m not kidding, we’ve decided to add a surprise collection to our Lewis & Irene fabric ranges. The ‘Fairy Clocks Collection’ is the first collection from the brand to be released for Spring/Summer 2021 and similar to the ‘Iona’ collection, it features silver metallic elements. Including new bumbleberries and a FQ Bundle, these fabrics are now available to buy from our website!
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I LOVE a good surprise. There’ll be plenty more ‘surprises’ in store throughout the year. Plus, there ‘may’ even be another treat in store later on this month (wait and see).
Also ‘NEW’ for April 2021 are Hawthorn Handmade Embroidery Hoop Kits – Made in Britain, these animal and botanical kits are ideal for beginners and experienced stitchers alike! Each kit includes a 7” wooden hoop, DMC embroidery threads, illustrated stitch guide and instruction booklet, pre-printed 100% cotton fabric, embroidery needle, plus a printed pattern guide, and all this comes in a beautifully decorated box – so they’re great for gift giving.
I recently had a go at making the ‘Awesome Otters’ embroidery hoop and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are at least 3 things that I love about these kits: –
1. If you’re someone who worries about having to transfer your design over onto your fabric, then you’ll be thrilled to know that these design(s) are already pre-printed onto the fabric. All you have to do is place the fabric into the hoop and you’re ready to go. Problem solved.
2. Unlike the majority of sewing projects, you are not confined to a table and chair to do these hoops; you can simply get comfy on the sofa with a cup of tea and biscuit while you do your stitching, or maybe if the weather’s nice, you can sit outside.
3. The kits don’t take too long to make (it took me approx. a couple of hours each night over 3 ½ days), and the end result is really satisfying.
Special Offer Time! For at least the next 2 + weeks, we are offering 15% off Liberty Fabrics ‘Hesketh House’ Collection. If you really like this collection, then I strongly suggest that you make the most of this offer as we only have a limited number of fabrics left in stock. So, once they’re gone, they’re gone. Also, try pairing them up with our range of Mettler silk-finish cotton threads and Sewing Patterns by Mrs. H (here’s an example of what I mean, on the left) – Offer ends on Monday 19th April 2021 at Midnight.
Finally, at the beginning of this blog, I promised you all a quick update on our future fabric collections and deliveries, so here goes. For those of you who regularly check out our ‘COMING SOON’ page, there are currently 2 x Lewis & Irene collections in there which were due to be released between the end of March/April 2021. However, we have been told that due to issues at the shipping ports over the last couple of months, the fabric companies are experiencing delays of up to 4-6 weeks (or longer). I think that near enough every fabric stockist in the UK has been facing the same complications with regards to fabric deliveries too, and as a ‘fabric lover’ and keen sewer myself, I completely understand how frustrating it has been for you all.
But there is hope, as we move into April/May, new fabrics are beginning to arrive e.g. last week Lewis & Irene dispatched their first 4 x collections to stockists (including ourselves), so I’m really hopeful that these delays will start to get few and far between, that the ‘Queen Bee’ and ‘Reflections’ collections will arrive soon, and that going forward, any future collections will arrive on time.
The only advice I can give you all is to keep an eye on our website and social media pages over the next few weeks for updates on these collections – and maybe the odd surprise announcement too.
So, that’s it for our April 2021 blog, thank you all so much for reading. I’m really looking forward to our May 2021 Blog, featuring more updates on the latest news and products that’ll be arriving at Sew-Drops in the months to come! 🙂
Best Wishes,
Rebecca x
