Saturday 1st April 2023
Hello everyone,
It’s safe to say that spring is well underway now, and the weather and spring flowers are sure to put us all in a good mood, however, that’s not the only reason to be in a good mood… because we’ve just got some brand new fabrics for spring 2023! Let’s find out what they are…
Cassandra Connolly has teamed up with Lewis & Irene to bring us this gorgeous collection of fabrics. Inspired by her life long passion for crafting, textiles and sewing, ‘Memory Made’ is dedicated to her grandmother who helped to inspire Cassandra’s creativity. If you’d like to know more of the story behind this collection, Cassandra Connolly has recently written a blog on her website – It’s a lovely read.
For this collection, we have all 5 x prints in the pink/cream colourway. There’s ‘Stitch in Time’, ‘Nostalgic Notions’, ‘Clickety Clack’, ‘Button Jumble’, and lastly we have ‘Pin Play’.
There’s quite a few sewing-themed projects you could make with this collection; I’m talking sewing machine covers, knitting bags, bunting for your sewing, and crafting room, pincushions, even a dress for a little girl (Cassandra also did a blog which features some photos of a dress made from the ‘Stitch in Time’ fabric), the list goes on, but for those of you looking for a smaller project idea, you could make some trinket / storage boxes.
I recently made some of these (using a tutorial video by Debbie Shore) with one of Cassandra Connolly’s autumn 2022 collection, Meadowside.
One of the reasons why I chose the pink/cream colourway for the ‘Memory Made’ collection is that it will beautifully compliment the colour scheme for the ‘Meadowside’ fabrics which uses very similar colour tones e.g. pinks, yellows, cream, and purples.
Now I just wanted to quickly remind you all about the Coronation Day bunting panels that arrived last month. We only have approx. 10 panels left in stock, so if you’re looking to make some royal bunting, be sure to get one (or as many as you need).
Designed by Kimberley Hind (daughter of Debbie Shore) and produced by Craft Cotton Company, this range will focus on one of our favourite summer fruits…the strawberry. Bright, colourful, and fresh, these fabrics will be great for a number of mini projects e.g. summer dresses, basket liners for picnics (or for picking strawberries), lunch boxes, shopping bags and more.
‘Strawberry Picking’ FQ bundles are due to arrive at Sew-Drops in early June 2023.
Well that’s all for this month’s blog, thank you all so much for reading. I will be back in May with news on the upcoming fabric ranges and sewing products for spring and summer 2023, and lots more. 🙂
Best wishes,
Rebecca x
