Hello Everyone,
After many months of delays and uncertainty, it seems that the Fabric Gods have finally heard our prayers and they have very kindly gifted us with some beautiful NEW fabric ranges for the Spring/Summer! In this month’s blog, I’ll be telling you all about our latest arrivals and will be giving you some sewing inspiration, plus I’ll also be sharing some “festive” news.
So let’s get started!
For those of you who read our previous blog, you’ll remember me saying that we were going to be launching a NEW fabric brand on our website…well, it turns out that that NEW fabric brand was Tilda Fabrics! Ta-dah! (or should I say “TIL-DAH!). For Summer 2021, Tone Finnanger has designed the beautiful ‘Garden Life’ Collection, full of vibrant colours and pretty floral motifs. Pre-cut FQ bundles, charm packs and buttons from this range are available here on our website.
I can think of several project ideas for these fabrics, e.g. patchwork quilts, cushion covers, decorative flowers, mini bags, etc. just to name a few. I’ve actually been making some hexagon roses with one of the charm packs, which I will be using for a mini tote bag – there’s a picture of those on our social media pages – but if you’re still struggling to find a pattern to use for these fabrics, then Tilda have got you covered. On their website, they have a selection of projects and patterns which you can download (for FREE) and make using the fabrics from all their different collections.
Our second NEW arrival is Lewis & Irene’s Reflections Collection. Taking inspiration from stained glass, these fabrics feature pretty fuchsias and dragonflies amongst swirly art deco styled motifs. I bet if you held these fabrics up against the sunlight, they would look exactly like a stained glass window, how cool is that?! Out of all the designs for this collection, I would have to say that my favourite was the ‘Reflections (Bright)’, it reminds me of the beautiful stained glass windows from the 1991 film, ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Along with these new fabrics, we’ve got some complimentary bumbleberries (plain/solids) for you to pair up with; Carnival Pink, Brilliant Blue, and Tikehau Turquoise, plus the option of a FQ bundle too.
So, what projects could you make with these fabrics? Well, there’s dressmaking (or perhaps a nice summery top), curtains, wall-hangings, cosmetic bags, mini totes, etc. oh, why not make your very own Tiffany-styled lampshade covers! Also, if you fancy making a quilt with these fabrics, you can download a free pattern from Lewis & Irene’s website.
Technically we are now at the beginning of a new season, and you know what that means? It means that our Summer Newsletter for 2021 has now been emailed out to all subscribers! So please check your inboxes for that.
At the end of this month, we are due to receive our first Christmas fabric range for 2021…Lewis & Irene’s ‘Keep Believing’ which will reunite the brand with Eva Melhuish and her Scandinavian Tomtens! However, if you want to start your Christmas sewing a little bit earlier, we do still have a few of the bolts left from last year’s ‘Tomtens Christmas’ collection in stock, which we have now reduced, so you might want to check those out.
But that’s not all…This year, we will be getting not one, but two NEW Christmas fabric ranges (WOOHOO!) – The first will be from Lewis & Irene (Keep Believing), and the second will be from The Craft Cotton Company and is called ‘Christmas Critters’. This collection will feature the beautiful designs and sketches from the one and only, Debbie Shore! It’s due to arrive at the end of July 2021, but you can now get a sneak peek at the range in our website’s ‘Coming Soon’ section.
More NEW fabric ranges will be added to our COMING SOON section over the next couple of months, I’ll be talking about those in our July 2021 blog, so be sure to check that out when it’s posted in a few weeks’ time.
Thank you all so much for reading this month’s blog. Next time, things will be getting a lot more FESTIVE in our July 2021 blog as we prepare to celebrate Christmas in July – as well as our 2nd Birthday!! – plus there’ll be more updates on the latest news and products arriving at Sew-Drops! 🙂
Best Wishes,
Rebecca x
